REDFOREVER was born in Brooklyn New York, on September 27th, 1990, with the name Rashad Elijah Davis. He’s the youngest child on his mother’s and father’s side, although he never met his father or his siblings on that side of the family. He lived in Brooklyn with his mother and two older brothers for a short period of time before moving south to Florida where he lives now.
“The brothers that I’ve known and seen all my life are 12 and 16 years older than me, so when they were around I was exposed to a lot of things at an early age. My mother had me when she was 44 years old, so do the math…interesting to say the least.”
Growing up as a kid RED loved listening to rap music, especially with his older brother Anwar (who was actually rapping at the time under the name of Waran Cutlass,) but when Anwar wanted him to freestyle he was too afraid to do it, but definitely admired his brother’s efforts towards making music. After a few years RED started to notice Anwar falling out of music, which is what brought the two of them close, so he started to write lyrics on his own time.
“When my brother stopped taking rap seriously it hurt me, but I also felt like I needed to pick up the torch and keep it going, even though I never recorded anything at that moment, even though I didn’t know if I would even turn out to be good at it, I had to at least try. I started by writing rhymes to no beat at all, and posting my lyrics on Myspace as a blog haha, those were the days.”
It’s been years since the MySpace days and RED is still doing what he loves to do, and that is making music. “Throughout my life there have been ups and downs, times where I should’ve been more involved with my music, but no matter what music has always been there for me to express myself, it’s what I love.” RED rececntly changed his name to REDFOREVER for marketing purposes. “RED is the initials to my real name, but REDFOREVER is an easier way to market myself as an artist, plus you will always call me RED forever…get it?”
